Pure Sunshine in Radial Symmetry, original painting
I had always been fascinated by kaleidoscopes. When I was a child, I remember my friend giving me one to play with it for a short time, and I didn't want to stop playing with all these different and amazing designs. Hypnotizing!
Later, I owned one, and I would spend some time peering into the small tube, marvelling at the intricate patterns that emerged with just a slight twist of the wrist. I remember pulling it apart to find out how it worked and was a bit disappointed to find some reflecting papers (not quite mirrors, but something like mirrors) and colourful plastic bits inside.
However, as an adult, I have found a way to capture that magic in a painting.
I had been working on the piece for weeks, trying to perfect the balance of colours and shapes to create the perfect kaleidoscope effect. I had started with a base of yellow and orange, the colours of pure sunshine, and built layer upon layer of geometric shapes, each one carefully placed to create the illusion of movement.
As I worked, I felt a sense of calm wash over me, the same feeling I used to get as a child when I was lost in the patterns of a kaleidoscope. It was as if the painting was alive, moving and shifting with each brush stroke.
Finally, after many long hours, the painting was complete. I stood back to examine the work. The colours were vibrant and alive, the shapes dancing and twirling like a real kaleidoscope.
I know this painting would bring joy and happiness to anyone who would see it. It is like a burst of sunshine, a reminder of the beauty that can be found in even the simplest things. And for me, it reminds me of the magic that captivated me as a child and the joy of bringing that magic to life in my art.
So, I tried to capture the sunshine in the form of a kaleidoscope. The colours are, of course, yellow and orange, which bring pure sunshine and good vibes to any wall.
