original paintings and drawings inspired by Britain's landscapes,

Unique Nature Artworks Reflecting British and Scottish Landscapes

I’m Rhia Janta-Cooper, a contemporary nature artist creating original paintings and drawings inspired by the landscapes, flowers, trees and wildlife of Britain — particularly the quiet beauty of northern England and Scotland.

I paint the places and moments that make us stop and notice: changing light across a landscape, the character of an old tree, flowers moving in the breeze, or the familiar beauty of a countryside path.

My work isn't created to follow a decorating trend or simply fill an empty wall. I want each painting to hold something of the atmosphere of the place that inspired it — bringing colour, texture and a sense of connection with nature into your home.

Art Inspired by the Natural World

Nature is the constant thread running through my work.

From atmospheric British and Scottish landscape paintings to intimate studies of flowers and trees, and from original drawings to paintings of birds and other wildlife, I’m drawn to the details that can easily be overlooked.

These are not grand, distant views of nature alone. Often, they are quieter encounters — a particular stretch of countryside, a familiar tree, a fleeting
quality of light, or the character of a place that has stayed in my memory.

Why Original Art Feels
Different

An original painting carries the physical presence of the artist who
made it.

You can see the brushstrokes, the texture of the paint and the small decisions that make the piece unique. Light changes across its surface during the day. Colours reveal themselves differently depending on where you
stand.

That is part of the
pleasure of living with an original.

I don't paint for quick
trends or to match a particular sofa. I paint for the person who
wants a genuine, one-of-a-kind piece of art that becomes part of the story of their home.

I Love Isle of Skye, Scottish Landscape - Rhia Janta-Cooper Fine Art

I don't paint to impress. I paint to notice.

From the Landscape to the Painting

Many of my paintings begin with a place, a memory or simply a moment that catches my attention.

The landscapes of Yorkshire and Scotland have long inspired me, but I am equally fascinated by the smaller encounters with nature closer to home.

  • A crooked tree beside a road.
  • Flowers in a garden.
  • A bird visiting a familiar place.
  • Light appearing briefly between clouds.

These ordinary moments can
become extraordinary when we take the time to really look.

I use acrylics, oils, , coloured pencils, or inks

Original Art, Made One Piece at a Time

I create every artwork in my collection individually in my studio using traditional drawing and painting techniques.

Depending on the work, I use acrylic paint, coloured pencils, oils, water-soluble inks and pencils, allowing each medium to contribute its own character, texture and depth.

There are no factory-produced originals, no prints and no two paintings are the same.

When an original artwork leaves my studio, it becomes part of someone else's story.

About Rhia Janta-Cooper

I’m a contemporary artist working from my connection with the natural world. [img1] My paintings and drawings are rooted in the landscapes, flora and wildlife of Britain, with a particular affection for northern England and Scotland. [img2] I’m interested in atmosphere as much as appearance — the feeling of being somewhere, rather than simply recording what it looks like. [img3] After years of painting and exhibiting my work, I continue to return to the same essential subject: the quiet beauty of the natural world, and the way a painting can help us notice it again.

"I bought this beautiful little painting for myself. I have a big birthday this year and we are travelling to Norway to hopefully see the Northern Lights. This picture is a small souvenir whether the lights appear or not. This lovely little picture has pride of place on my book shelf and I will take it to get professionally framed soon. In the meantime I can just look at the amazing colours that Ria has painted perfectly."
