I made a collection of small drawings of the River Aire in North Yorkshire.
This particular place on the river I discovered entirely by chance. While driving from Skipton to Pontefract, we stopped at a very small parking area. From this area, we walked only a few yards, and the landscape had completely changed from a busy road to a peaceful countryside. I was overwhelmed.
This is the first artwork in the small collection of sketches. I aimed to capture its tranquil beauty. Using coloured pencils, I portrayed a bright blue sky that mirrors in the river, with azure reflections completing the harmonious picture. On the opposite side of the river, I illustrated a gentle green hill with a few charming houses situated on top. This sketch represents the tranquillity I experienced while admiring the scenery.
