The story behind the creation of the Miniature Painting of Volcano Turrialba, San Jose and Full Moon is an interesting one. I have always been captivated by the beauty of the Central Valley in Costa Rica. 

Having lived in this region for several years, I enjoyed the stunning view from my home. It was nothing short of spectacular! Every evening, as I sat on the porch, I would be greeted by the breathtaking sight of the moon and stars up in the sky and the glittering sea of lights from the city below.

Can you imagine having such a view every evening by sitting on the porch and seeing the sea of lights above and below? It is just gorgeous!

As an artist at heart, I have always wanted to capture this breathtaking view on canvas. So, one day, I decided to give it a try. I went to the art store in San Jose and picked up some high-quality Belgian linen canvas and professional-grade acrylic paints. I knew that I wanted the painting to be small yet detailed, so I chose an 18 x 13 cm canvas.

I spent many hours sketching and painting, trying to capture the essence of the view that had captivated me for so long. The artwork should be realistic yet have a touch of impressionism, so I used a combination of techniques to achieve this effect. I purposefully mixed the paints to create the perfect shades of blue, green, and yellow with sprinkles of gold to depict the mountains and the city lights.

As I painted, I was utterly immersed in the process. I felt as though I was reliving each moment of the view, and I wanted to do justice to its beauty. Finally, after many hours of hard work, the painting was complete. I checked the creation, and I liked the result. I knew I had captured the essence of the view and was satisfied with my work.

I have painted the small gem on a handmade, fine-grain, Belgian linen canvas fixed to an archival-quality board. The canvas is four times universal primed. The artwork is created using professional-grade acrylics and is protected against air pollution and UV radiation with high-quality MSA varnish from Golden.
